The Summoning by J. P. Smith
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

Each year, as the 9/11 anniversary approaches, Kit Capriol will scan each memorial that is published on the New York Times. It is so easy to search for a name and phone number, to contact the surviving family members who still yearn for a connection of their loved ones. Kit uses her skills as a medium to assist others in order to make a living and help pay hospital bills, as being an actress wasn’t enough.

However, something in the air changed and Kit’s seances that are held in her apartment are becoming eerily true. As the voices of the deceased start to be prominent and the walls of the apartment closes in, she wasn’t isolated as she believed.

This book definitely set me up for fall season and I am all for it! If you like short chapters, suspenseful and spooky, this book is for you! It is a mix of thrill and horror – definitely hard to read at night. For a quick read, I really enjoyed it! You can grab your copy now.
